How to go bare without a scare

Written by on

Gal-friend, you are BEAUTIFUL! But it’s hard to wear the skin you’re in, when your daily routine leads to deep dark circles under your eyes, or worse whopper blemishes that multiply like bunnies. As fun as those suckers are to pop (don’t be shy – we know you love it), wouldn’t it be nice if your natural glow meant you could go foundation free?

Here are our top tips to help you break up with your make-up:

Get your beauty sleep
Guess what gal when you don’t sleep, your skin looks tired. It loses its lustre, wrinkles stand out more and you end up with deep dark circles under your eyes. If you don’t clock some ZZZs you might also experience a spike in the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol is a nasty piece of work, it’s linked to acne and causes breakouts. So long story short, get some sleep to save on concealer and stress less.

Embrace your inner scrubber
Exfoliating twice a week will rid you of dead skin and impurities. Having a buffing good scrub in the shower every now and again helps unclog your pores, unhinge blackheads and balances your skin-tone and fight fine lines.

Change your pillowcase often
There is nothing better than that feeling of your head hitting the pillow after a long day. However, those little buggers are gross – don’t let their fluffiness fool you, a pillow case fills up with oil, skin and hair every night. Your pillow case is a feisty feast of bacteria that clings to your face. Sorry to gross you out, but seriously gal-friend, wash your pillow case at least once a week to see your skin improve overnight.

Take your make-up off every night
If you’re getting lucky and the idea of taking your make-up off at night is scary as sh**, you should think again. Trust us, panda eyes and a big zit are not sexy! No matter where you sleep, use a gentle non-abrasive cleanser every night to remove the dirt or oil collected during your daily grind. Trust, your skin will thank you for it!

Sugar, sugar how you get so fly!
We all love a good cocktail and some chocolate every now and again but if you’re prone to sweet tooth benders we have some not so great news for you. Excess sugar in your bloodstream can lead to inflammation and is a big acne trigger. You don’t have to go on a crazy sugar free diet, just swap artificial sweets for healthy fruit and enjoy a cocktail every now and again – your skin and waistline will love you as a result!
